Lakeside Wedding Ceremony

Weddings

Congratulations! Your wedding is the biggest day of your life and I would love to create something perfect for you. The ceremony is the heart of your day and I want to craft for you an unrestricted unique, script that tells your story. I love rustic, barn, boho and outdoor weddings, but my job is making memories that last a lifetime regardless of the location. I would take the time leading up to your special day in getting to know you, finding out your likes and dislikes in order map out your journey through life to this spectacular moment. You will have the opportunity to have your own choice in music, readings, poems with no rules over religious content.

Star Wars Themed Wedding Celebrant.jpg

Themed Wedding

Themed weddings? Yes, absolutely! What would you like to do? Beam on board the Enterprise in full Star Trek glory, rub shoulders with both Jedi and Sith with a Star Wars wedding or marry in Winterfell with the House Stark in Game of Thrones? Then you shall! It is your day so don’t compromise, you can have whichever theme you’d like. Why not incorporate a symbolic ritual like jumping the besom and the broomstick could be a Nimbus 2000, if Harry Potter is your passion? I will craft the script with you capturing the all the important details, suggesting scenes, placing in those all important quotes and music ideas… it’s a big galaxy so why not embrace it!

Why don’t we rewrite the stars?

Any Culture

I can cater for weddings of all cultures, so if you decide that you want to remain traditional with religious content of any faiths or beliefs, even if you have a desire for a Pagan ceremony, then that is not a problem. I can construct anything that is personal to your lives and you will also have the flexibility to include any additional symbolic rituals. Let me take your special day to another level.

The renewal can be as formal or as informal as you would like, so if you want a whole new wedding day, then why not? I can deliver a ceremony exactly how you would like it, with bespoke promises and vows especially written for the day, or written by yourselves. The ceremony in its entirety with reflect upon the journey you have already taken together and your future aspirations.

It was always you!

Commitment Ceremony Celebrant Hertfordshire.jpg

Commitment Ceremony

If the legalities of marriage or a civil partnership aren’t for you then why not have a commitment ceremony? There are no regulations to a celebrant led ceremony of commitment, you can still have vows, readings and any other symbolic ritual you want to celebrate this special day. There are no restrictions as to where these ceremonies take place either, so why not take the leap?

Commitment is an act not a word

Rituals and Symbolism

Why don’t you add a symbolic ritual into your day? Each can be customised to make it unique to yourselves…

Handfasting

A handfasting is a unique way to represent bonding of two souls by the binding of the couple’s hands. This beautiful, symbolic ritual takes place during the ceremony prior to the exchanging of the rings. Colourful ribbons or cords, each with an emblematic meaning or that simply match the colour scheme of the wedding, are used in the binding and family and friends can be involved. It is from this ceremony that the term ‘tying the knot’ originates.

Oathing Stone

This old Scottish ritual has the couple place their hands upon a stone as they recite their wedding vows and is derived from setting an ‘oath in stone.’ As the vows are spoken holding the stone it represents the sacred Celtic act that denotes togetherness sealing it with a stone contract. This again can be personalised to the couple by using a stone they have collected from a special place dear to them, maybe a mountain they have climbed together or a beach they have walked on together. The stone can also be engraved with their names, the date of their wedding or a Celtic symbol.

Jump the Broomstick

Jumping the Besom

This time-honoured ritual is a great way to conclude a wedding ceremony. Dating back to the 1700’s the bride and bridegroom would jump over a broomstick to symbolise the sweeping away of the past and the start of new beginnings. Besom broomsticks can be easily personalised and are a quirky keepsake of a special day.

Sand Ceremony

A sand ceremony is another lovely visual symbolisation of the joining of two lives. It is a simple, but meaningful ritual, which can be personalised for couples, leaving them with a beautiful reminder of their special day. The pouring of colourful sand is perfect for outdoor ceremonies with a touching reminder of the couple’s wedding day vows.

I pride myself in being committed to providing a service which embraces diversity and equality in every element.

Important - A modern celebrant cannot perform a legal marriage. You would be required to obtain a marriage certificate from a registrar before or after a celebration ceremony in order to legalise the marriage. A legal ceremony for a couple and two witnesses can be conducted at main registry offices for as little as £57 inclusive of the marriage certificate. (These costs reflect East Hertfordshire prices as of 01/02/2022)
